Frequently asked questions
-
No - you don’t have to be a knife maker to join SHE BLADES.
We welcome anyone who moves within the world of blades or feels connected to it.
Whether you forge, sharpen, curate, teach, design, collect, research, sell, or simply love handcrafted knives, there is a place for you here.
Our memberships are open to:
women knife makers,
women professionals in the cutting arts (sharpeners, curators, shop owners, designers…),
companies who wish to support the cutting arts,
private supporters who resonate with our values.
What matters most is not your profession, but the spirit that guides you - creativity, collaboration, transmission, a sense for the beautiful, and courage.
-
SHE BLADES was born to shine a light on an underrepresented community in the cutting arts.
Yet everyone, regardless of gender, is welcome to stand with us in this adventure.
We offer different membership options depending on your wishes and level of involvement.
In time, we may open the circle to everyone whose heart resonates with these words regardless of gender: creation, collaboration, transmission, a sense for the beautiful and courage.
-
Yes - absolutely.
You can upgrade your membership at any time if you feel called to take part more actively in the SHE BLADES community. Whether you want greater visibility, access to exhibitions, or a deeper level of engagement, you’re free to move to a higher tier whenever it feels right for you.
Just reach out, and we’ll guide you through the process.

Non-knife makers can take part in SHE BLADES exhibitions - their contribution simply takes a different form.
Women who work in the cutting arts as curators, sharpeners, designers, researchers, or shop owners may be involved through curatorial presence, demonstrations, talks, round tables, or participation at the SHE BLADES stand.
They may not exhibit knives themselves, but their expertise, voice, and practice are an essential part of the ecosystem we aim to highlight. SHE BLADES exhibitions are designed to shine a light on every woman shaping the world of blades - makers and non-makers alike.
-
Yes, they are - however, some pieces may currently be on display in museums or galleries.
The main purpose of SHE BLADES is to promote women knife makers and their artistry. The gallery presents only a selection of their work; from here, you can visit each makers' website or social media accounts to discover more.
